About the work:
“- Stick Bike is a fictional hybrid of two sporting phenomena: stick horse riding and competitive cycling. It is the result of a collaboration between Rebecca Digby and Agnes Widbom. Competitive cycling, which is based on technique and speed, is mixed with the technically simple sport of stick horse riding, which is instead perfected in and through the imagination. The work takes shape through performance, video, and photographs.” – Rebecca Digby.
Rebecca Digby: (b. 1987) Digby is educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (BFA, MFA). She mainly works with large-scale video installations and performances, often with elements of humor, surrealism, and music. She has participated in exhibitions in Sweden and abroad, including around Europe and Mexico City. 2018, she participated in the Modern exhibition at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm. She has received multiple scholarships and is established in the performative contexts.
